Roots of Empathy

Room 23 with our baby Adam and his mum Candice. Mrs Mulder is our Roots Of Empathy teacher.

Mrs Mulder measured baby Adam and then Dasha. Look at the difference!
As Adam came into our classroom we sang a welcome song. His mum Candice held him while she walked around the circle. We touched Adam's feet or hands and looked at his face. It was very special. When he left we sang a goodbye song.

Roots of Empathy

Today I saw baby Adam. I felt excited to see him. Adam liked a cube toy. I touched baby Adam’s feet and they were very soft. I think in the future baby Adam will be an active person. I learnt heaps of things about Adam and throughout the year I will learn more things about him. Adam was quite a strong baby because when he was on the roll, he was pushing himself towards the toy. We measured him; he was 62cm long. On top of his forehead is called the fontanelle - that is soft.
Here is Adam on the roll. He was leaning forward. His little legs were pushing from the back.

great book

Today we have been reading Charlotte’s Web. The person who wrote the story is E.B White. The characters are Fern, Wilbur, Charlotte, Goose, Fern’s dad and mum and a horse. This story is about Wilbur being lonely when it was raining and wishing that Fern would come. But she didn’t. He was so bored that he wanted a friend. He asked everyone in the barn but everyone in the barn said no. So he slept most of the time. I have also watched the movie. I really like the book Charlotte’s Web.

Charlotte's Web

Today we are reading about Charlotte’s web, I have that book. The author of this book is E.B. White. It is about a pig that was born in spring and a girl called Fern, whose father tired to kill the pig, but Fern said she can have the pig and her dad said o.k. The girl looked after the pig and called him Wilbur. At home I have nearly finished the book and I know the answers. I like the book called Charlotte’s Web.

poem by Kylah

The school was usual enough; it had
a playground, a sandpit, classroom, a hall
And even a car racing track.
My friends and I did what children do – ran around in the hot sun, played rugby on the green wide field, sang in the music room and spun on the massive tornado, played basket ball with others

Jessica's ideas

I think school is going to be great this year, everything is going to be fun as
and I’ve made new friends.I love learning new stuff in room 23 this year.
Writing is cool. Everything is very good so far. Also we did a graph about any thing we wanted. I did a birthday graph. It was kind of loud and Mrs Penberthy stuck it on the wall. I think it’s going to be awesome in room 23.

maths is fun, by Kylah

Todays math we did was colouring in numbers and writing big numbers. Also we did plus and minus. Minus was hard for me but I got used to it. Well my favourite maths is colouring in the numbers and writing them. Math is fun and tiring to do mostly but if you can’t do it, get someone to help you but don’t rush because you want to write more than your partner .
by Kylah

cool maths

In maths we did big numbers. We count really big numbers like 165 - the number for that is one hundred and sixty five. We did a colour in sheet with matching numbers and words. We had to colour in nicely. I liked it really much. I had a great maths. I really had a great time for maths time. I liked it when we did the maths sheet and counting the numbers because it was a great maths time.  By Tamzin Ling Room 23
