LIFE TRANSITIONS (ROE)

Today we talked about life transitions. We got into small groups and discussed the things which can help us make these transitions easier to handle. Here are our ideas.....

When moving to a new country - bringing something special from old country, buy a language book, ask someone what to do, ask for help, join a club or group, make an effort to find friends, learn the culture, get involved.

When moving to a new school or home - invite the neighbours for dinner, meet the new neighbours, get used the new street by scootering or walking around, a new set up or new decorations, get used to the new colours, keeping in touch with old friends, meet new friends, have a buddy (school), find out more about each other, keep asking questions.

The death of a family member or a pet - visit their grave, keeping their special items, the toy of a pet, sing a song they like, don't forget about them, talk about them, keep photos, do stuff they used to like, go and do something that makes you feel happy, put a flower on their grave, pretend they are beside them, talk to them, think about the happy times with them.

Starting a new year at school - meet new teachers before end of year, make new friends, learn new games at school, get involved in new cultural or sports groups.

If there is a new baby in the family - play with mum or dad when the baby is asleep, give the baby a special toy, ask if you can help out with jobs, bond with the baby, talk about your feelings, learn about the baby, play with mum and the baby.
