Roots of Empathy by Xiao Xiao

Today baby Adam came to teach us. He likes toys very much because he gets to hold them. We sang some songs - the pancake song was his favourite. When Adam had a sock on his foot Mrs Mulder made him get the sock and he rolled over to the right. Then Mrs Mulder tired to make him roll from the front to the back.

Roots Of Empathy baby session

Today we had Roots Of Empathy and we got to see Adam. We gave him some baby toys so he could play with them. I think Adam's favourite toy was a this sort of cube  with lots of rings for him to hold. Adam was sucking a lot of things. Mrs Mulder put Adam on the roll to see if he would try and get the toy. Adam was trying really hard to get the toy but he was also being careful. I think Adam was being careful because last time he knocked his head.  We put on a CD for Adam to listen to and he looked a little bit confused when he heard the music coming from the computer. I think Adam's favourite songs were 'twinkle twinkle little star' and 'pop goes the weasel' because he kept dancing to it. Adam sort of cried a little bit but not for very long. I think Adam cried because when we were getting him to do something else we took the toy away.

bullying

We have been talking about bullying. Bullying makes people unhappy. Bullying can be when people tease and hit. Do you now that adults can do bullying too. Stop bullying -  use your WITS!

how people become bullies

On Thursday we talked about bullies - it's part of 'kia kaha' our topic. Here is my story to tell about bullies. Bullies do things that threaten people. Mostly they leave people out, talk about them, push them and do other things. People can be bullies, other people bully them too. Some bullies get very mad when they get bullied, bullies can kick, hit and punch and do other bad things. Most bullies go and pick on the same person that they bullied the other day but other bullies also pick on new kids. If a parent becomes a bully they may have been bullied too by big people like them. Parents can bully children in another way instead like tell them to house work for them or take their money. Bullies can be with a team (or a gang). The most number a bully can be in a team or (gang) the number could be 4 or 3. Big bullies can bully young people; day after day the young kid gets stressed out that he might be hurt. Later on he could turn into a  bully and bully others. When people get bullied they could still be bullied when they grow up. To stop a grown- up bully you could phone the police or run out of the house, go to a neighbour (if you know them) or you can go to a friend in your block.Your friends could become a bully too. Small kids are strong too, it doesn't always have to be a big strong person.

using your WITS

                                     WITS

WHAT DO YOU DO IF SOMEONE IS BOTHERING YOU!
WITS.
W= walkaway.
I =ignore.
T =talk it out.
S =seek help.

Always use your wits.

Today we have been learning about using your WITS.
If someone is bothering you use your WITS.
W=If someone is bothering you walk away.
I=If he keeps on annoying you ignore him.
T=then you might say STOP I DON'T LIKE IT.
S=But if he still annoy you tell a teacher.

Roots of Empathy

On Thursday we learnt about babies. It was really cool. Baby Adam didn't come. We read 2 books. The first one was called Hi New Baby. The next one was called How Are You Peeling. It was my favourite one because it was about feelings. BY AARON AND RYO

R.O.E

(Sakura) I think baby Adam was so cute! I liked the part when he giggled and tried to get a flappy soft book on the roller. I never knew he can giggle and laugh so loud! His mum(Candice)said that he can't say a word yet. Soon we saw him playing with the toys. It was looking really fun. Do you think he's cute?.We sang a goodbye song and he went . I liked the way he laughed so cutely.

,(Tamzin) I think baby Adam was so cute when he played with the baby toys. I like it when baby Adam had fun and when we sang the hello and goodbye song. I like it when he was so cute on the roller. I  had fun watching him.

I love Rangitoto

 I love Rangitoto.
I like it when I meet new friends when I climb. I like it when I am allowed to buy something from the big gift shop. I love Rangitoto because it's safe to climb. I like it when I'm allowed to go to the rock pools because it's like a hot spa. I love Rangitoto because it's hot and cold at the same time. I love Rangitoto because it is cloudy and awesome like a hot mountain. I like it when it's cold because sometimes I see snow flakes. I love Rangitoto because there are rocks. I love Rangitoto.

I love the forest

I love the forest.
I like it when the birds sing like a radio.  I love the cicadas when they sing their beautiful songs all day.  I like it when the pretty flowers burst into season.  I love the colourful fruit when they are ripe enough to eat.
I like it when the enormous trees blow in the whistling wind.  I love the quiet forest at night when the beautiful glow worms come out like disco spot lights shining every where around you.  I like it when the water in the river splashes out everywhere and gets my little legs wet.  I love the forest I find little grassy meadows because it feels safe and cosy.  I like it when the hot sun hits down onto the tall green trees and creates shadows.  I love it when amazing butterflies catch my hazel eyes.  I like it when the big wide forest is peaceful and quiet.  I love the forest because it's like a colourful castle.  I love the forest.

I love the beach

I Love The Beach
I like it when we go to the rock pools to catch big crabs. I like it when I go swimming in the calm water. I like it when the spotty dogs splash cold water on me. I like it when we have a picnic there and everyone is having a great time. I like it when me and my friends make big sandcastles and decorate them with seaweed. I love it when I collect big shells and take them home to paint. I like it when the birds sing songs out loud. I Love The Beach. BY SAMANTHA

I love the beach

I like it when dogs chase the brown sticks into the water and make big splashes.I love it when I relax and the grass whooshes me. I like it when waves dance while I am surfing.I love it when kids are screaming like a band playing.I like it when I find splatting seaweed.I love watching people swim like a fan is blowing behind them.I like it when I have fun like I'm at rainbows End. I love watching people sail around the beach like they're on a holiday. I like it when I make sand castles like I'm building a real castle. I like it when cold freezing water covers my feet. I love the beach.          BY ERIC
